On April 8th, 2014, Microsoft ceased to support one of their most widely adopted operating systems. Windows XP is no longer being patched nor supported after this date. Any security flaws that are found in the operating system will be an open door for a flood of new viruses to be produced. If you are still running Windows XP, you may want to consider upgrading your operating system to either Windows 7 / 8 / 10. If your system is more than five years old it is recommended that you actually replace the hardware rather than just upgrade the operating system.
